The Amazing Spider-Man 2 has narrowed down a list of potential actors to three who could soon take on the role of Harry Osborn in the upcoming sequel.
Chronicle actor Dane DeHaan has been mentioned as a possible candidate for the role of Peter Parker’s childhood friend turned villain Harry Osborn along with Alden Ehrenreich (Tetro) and Brady Corbert (Melancholia), as revealed by Hollywood Reporter.
Back in 2010, Alden Ehrenreich was reportedly up for the role of Spider Man but eventually lost out to Andrew Garfield.
Actor James Franco played the role of Harry Osborn in Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man trilogy alongside Tobey Maguire and Kirsten Dunst. Although Franco’s Osborn took a darker turn in Spider-Man 2, director Marc Webb revealed that he wanted the character to be a bit more on the edgier side.
The role called for a physically larger Osborn but the character has since been reworked, which would explain why Corbet, DeHaan, and Ehrenreich are currently being eyed for the role.
The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is still in the early stages of pre-production, so it may be a while before we learn the new identity of Harry Osborn.
The latest casting news follows on the heels of Andrew Garfield returning to the role of Peter Parker/Spider Man and Emma Stone signing on to play Gwen Stacy. Shailene Woodley was offered the role of Mary Jane Watson in October and is currently still in negotiations.
Two weeks ago Jamie Foxx was reportedly offered the role of the villain Electro but no official word has been released on the status of Foxx as the new villain.
The Amazing Spider Man 2 will hit theatres on May 2, 2014.
