The first full theatrical trailer for Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel will debut with early screenings of The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey on December 14.
In an interview with MTV News, Man of Steel director Zack Snyder broke the trailer news to fans and shared his excitement about the latest Superman film being attached to The Hobbit.
“It will be fun to see our crazy Man of Steel trailer and then enjoy The Hobbit because that’s going to be great,” said Snyder. “It just feels like a fun Christmas thing to do, drag the whole family out for that action.”
The Man of Steel trailer will be part of another fan friendly debut at the same time when a 9-minute preview of Star Trek Into Darkness debuts in front of The Hobbit as well.
The early previews of both Man of Steel and Star Trek Into Darkness will certainly put more people in the seats for The Hobbit.
Man of Steel stars Henry Cavill as Clark Kent/Superman, Michael Shannon as the villain General Zod, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Laurence Fishburne as Daily Planet editor Perry White, Diane Lane and Kevin Costner as John and Martha Kent, and Russell Crowe in the role of Jor-El, Superman’s father.
“Clark Kent/Kal-El (Cavill) is a young twentysomething journalist who feels alienated by powers beyond anyone’s imagination. Transported to Earth years ago from Krypton, an advanced alien planet, Clark struggles with the ultimate question – Why am I here?
“Shaped by the values of his adoptive parents Martha (Lane) and Jonathan Kent (Costner), Clark soon discovers that having super abilities means making very difficult decisions. But when the world needs stability the most, it comes under attack. Will his abilities be used to maintain peace or ultimately used to divide and conquer? Clark must become the hero known as “Superman,” not only to shine as the world’s last beacon of hope but to protect the ones he loves.”
Man of Steel hits theatres on June 14, 2013.
