Betty White returns to NBC on January 8 for Season 2 of Off Their Rockers as seniors pull new pranks on the unsuspecting younger generation of America.
Former Golden Girl Betty White is back for a second season of pranks on Betty White’s Off Their Rockers this Tuesday, January 8 on NBC, with Korean “Gangnam Style” star Psy and Kim Kardashian heading up a season guest list that includes Howie Mandel, Nicole Richie, Steve O, Nick Lachey, NeNe Leakes, Bob Harper of The Biggest Loser, Camille Grammer and Kyle Richards.
Interestingly, the new season of Off Their Rockers also features a special guest appearance by actor Ed Asner, who worked with Betty White on the hugely popular 1970s sitcom, The Mary Tyler Moore Show.
So, what was it like for Betty White to be reunited with Ed Asner on Off Their Rockers?
“It was such fun,” White admitted to The Deadbolt ahead of the Season 2 premiere. “Ed and I stay very close and we’ve always adored each other. I don’t think we’ve ever said a nice word to each other but we adore each other. You know, that kind of friendship. He always yells at me and I yell at him lovingly.”
From 1973 to 1977, Betty White played cheerful and sexually sarcastic TV host Sue Ann Nivens on The Mary Tyler Moore Show with Ed Asner in the role of hard-nosed news producer, Lou Grant.
During the run of Mary Tyler Moore, Ed Asner became one of the most recognizable faces on television due to the massive popularity of the Lou Grant character. Ed Asner and Lou Grant were so popular in the 1970s that fans even called for the actor to run for president.
“He did the show,” White continued about Asner’s upcoming appearance on Off Their Rockers, “But when you work that closely with somebody, you just fall into a pattern and it’s as though you saw each other yesterday even if a little time has gone by.”
Prior to the second season premiere of Off Their Rockers, NBC released a preview in which Betty White introduced “Gangnam Style” singer Psy to her team of senior pranksters. In the clip, Psy teaches White and her crew how to perform the popular dance that recently surpassed over one billion views on YouTube.
So, how did Betty White feel about meeting Psy?
“He was very nice,” admitted White to The Deadbolt about meeting Psy. “I don’t think he wanted to teach us the dance but we tried to copy him anyway.”
Season 2 of Betty White’s Off Their Rockers premieres Tuesday, January 8 with back-to-back episodes at 8/7c.
