Britney Spears has officially left The X Factor after the pop star released an official statement confirming her exit from the Fox singing competition.

Following earlier rumors that indicated Spears would not be back as a judge on The X Factor, Britney released a statement to say that she’s leaving to focus on other projects and her upcoming studio album.

“I’ve made the very difficult decision not to return for another season,” said Spears in a statement via Pop & Hiss. “I had an incredible time doing the show and I love the other judges and I am so proud of my teens but it’s time for me to get back in the studio.”

The exit of Britney Spears from The X Factor follows the recent departure of judge L.A. Reid who decided to leave the show to focus on his duties as CEO of Epic Records.

Prior to joining The X Factor, Britney was courted with a $15 million paycheck to appear as a judge before joining Simon Cowell, L.A. Reid, and Demi Lovato.

“Watching them all do their thing up on that stage every week made me miss performing so much,” Spears added in her statement.

Under Britney’s guidance on The X Factor, Carly Rose Sonenclar was the second season runner-up to winner Tate Stevens from Team L.A..

Spears recently confirmed that she was back in the studio with Hit-Boy and will.i.am
 on her eighth studio album
. Britney collaborated on will.i.am on the single and video for “Scream & Shout which premiered on The X Factor in November.

However, word has it that one of Britney’s possible upcoming projects may be a multi-year gig in Las Vegas. According to TMZ, Britney was in “serious talks” to headline her own show at a Las Vegas hotel.” To date, nothing has been confirmed about a possible stint for Britney in vegas.
