A new photo of Hugh Jackman in The Wolverine recently hit the web this week that shows Jackman ready for battle in the upcoming Marvel superhero movie.

Hitting the web by way of FilmThrasher, the new Wolverine photo is featured in the current issue of EW.

Slated to hit theaters on July 26, The Wolverine follows the story of Logan/Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) as he travels to Japan and meets a mysterious figure from his past. The encounter will have lasting effects on the rest of Logan’s life and could give insight into the mysterious and guarded nature of his character.

The Wolverine will hit theaters before the 2014 release of Bryan Singer’s X-Men: Days of Future Past, which also features Hugh Jackman as Wolverine.

Directed by James Mangold, The Wolverine was written by Christopher McQuarrie and Mark Bomback. The Wolverine comic book was released in 1982 as a limited series by Chris Claremont and Frank Miller.

The Wolverine also stars Hiroyuki Sanada, Tao Okamoto, Rila Fukushima, and Will Yun Lee.

Based on the celebrated comic book arc, this epic action-adventure takes Wolverine, the most iconic character of the X-Men universe, to modern day Japan. Out of his depth in an unknown world he faces his ultimate nemesis in a life-or-death battle that will leave him forever changed. Vulnerable for the first time and pushed to his physical and emotional limits, he confronts not only lethal samurai steel but also his inner struggle against his own immortality, emerging more powerful than we have ever seen him before.
