‘American Idol’ Returns in January for 15th and Final Season

FOX’s original music show phenomenon, “American Idol,” returns for it’s 15th and final season in January 2016. According to FOX, “Featuring host Ryan Seacrest and judges Jennifer Lopez, Keith Urban and Harry Connick, Jr., the farewell celebration will pay tribute to the past 14 seasons, the amazingly talented contestants and the millions of fans who called, tweeted, texted and championed their IDOLS.”

Season 15 begins following the audition journey through American cities, Denver, Little Rock, Philadelphia, San Francisco, and Atlanta.

Idol’s gold standards in the past 14 seasons include:

  • 1st ever winner, Kelly Clarkson, won 3 Grammy Awards and continues to dominate charts
  • Season 4 Winner, Carrie Underwood, won 5 Grammy’s, has 16 #1 singles and sold 15 albums worldwide.
  • Season 11 winner, Phillip Phillips’ debut single, “Home,” has become the best-selling single of any IDOL to date
  • Jennifer Hudon won an Academy Award
  • Other succesful IDOL artists include Adam Lambert, Chris Daughtry, Kellie Pickler and Katharine McPhee, who have all become household names and made their marks on the recording industry.

“American Idol” Season 15 farewell begins with a special two-night, four hour premiere on Wednesday, January 6th at 8pm ET on FOX.
