MTV announced the reboot of ‘Daria,’ ‘The Real World,’ and other hit 90s shows. The network is launching MTV Studios, a production arm that plans to revive the channel’s extensive library of popular throwback series. Among the initial slate of shows is a revival of the animated series “Daria,” from “inside Amy Schumer writer Grace Edwards; a reimagining of the animated sci-fi series “Aeon Flux,” and new versions of reality series “The Real World,” and “Made.”
Chris McCarthy, president of MTV said in a statement, “MTV has the biggest collection of hit youth franchises that spans more than three decades of content and over 200 titles, part of which have fueled our resurgence. With MTV Studios, we are for the first time ever opening up this vault beyond our own platforms to reimagine the franchises with new partners.”
Premiere dates for “Daria,” “The Real World” and others have yet to be announced for the MTV Studios revivals.
