Although Paul Fisher may not have been the nicest guy on the modeling block as a legendary agent to many elite models, Fisher has returned to the industry that once made him a self-professed egomanic.

With his new series Remodeled, which takes ailing modeling agencies and turns them into sustainable world class affiliates of his newly formed Network Talent, Paul Fisher is a changed man on a mission to transform the industry. Once living up to the stereotype of a powerful world class agent who cared more about fame than his models, Paul Fisher returned to the modeling world after a decade long soul-searching expedition into himself. As you’ll learn in our new interview for Remodeled, Paul Fisher is now making up for his past sins.

With Remodeled on The CW airwaves, The Deadbolt went one-on-one with Paul Fisher for an exclusive and candid chat about the past, present, and his future vision for the modeling industry through The Network and his message on Remodeled.

THE DEADBOLT: So, how is that Paul Fisher from years ago different from this Paul Fisher of today?

PAUL FISHER: That’s a tough and an intense question, because I found my faith about nine years ago. My faith, my whole trip is about transformation. It’s about becoming a different man. It’s about caring more about others and being less selfish.

It’s hard for me to watch my passion, my intensity, and my temper up on the screen. In my humble opinion, I got back into the modeling industry after a layoff of about ten years of being out of it because I had to beg and beg this industry for forgiveness. Excuse my language here, but I was a piece of sh**. I was a terrible, terrible man. I took advantage of my power. When I was the famous Paul Fisher, the agent of Naomi Campbell, Stephanie Seymour, Brooke Burke, Kimora Lee Simmons, Carla Bruni, and Monica Bellucci, I was an animal. I was an egomaniac.

I hope and I pray that I’ve changed in the past ten years. I care more about others than I do myself. I believe before that I wanted to become a famous agent because I wanted to walk into places and be that famous guy, Paul Fisher. But now I want the power that comes along with my Network and the TV show because I truly do want to create a safe environment for young kids. When people bury me in the ground, I want people to say that he was a good man who truly, truly cared about these little kids, cared about these businesses, and that he was trying to help out.

THE DEADBOLT: To effect change through The Network and Remodeled, how have you had to raise your standards?

FISHER: Well, first of all, I walked into a bar about two and a half years ago and saw a little kid, her name was Stephanie Roberts, a beautiful, beautiful girl of color that I put on the cover of American Vogue magazine. I must have made her $5 million or $6 million dollars, we called her magic. She was a bartender. That beat the hell out of me and it was one of the reasons why I decided to build this thing called The Network.

I realized it back then, when I was the famous Paul Fisher, that I was a terrible role model. I didn’t teach these young kids that if they didn’t treat their physical features as a blessing from God, it would be the one thing that haunts them for the rest of their lives. If I could teach these kids that when you make a couple million dollars, if you don’t give 10% of that back to a charity or a foundation or become part of your community that the world would just take that away from you.

So I’m trying really hard now to teach my kids around the world that these physical features they’re born with really are a responsibility. If they don’t use this as a responsibility to become an incredible role model in their community and don’t give back until it’s painful, it will be taken away and it will be like it never ever happened.

I’m really trying to convince these kids not to become a model because you want to become famous, become a model because you can touch other young kids around the world and they can look up to you. And you have a responsibility because other kids are going to look up to you. That’s the kind of message that we’re trying to put into the consciousness of our kids around the world.

THE DEADBOLT: What’s the biggest challenge for you when it seems like the power people in the modeling industry are in it for all of the wrong reasons?

FISHER: Well, I got into the modeling industry for all of the wrong reasons. So, with a lot of these people, I know exactly where they’re coming from. There are beautiful young girls and boys and a lot of money in our industry, so it’s hard not to get caught up in everything and do this for the right reasons.

But I believe that everybody in their souls, they have the spark of God inside them and they all want to do this for the right reasons. It’s just that they’re afraid to out of fear because of the bottom line, because of so many various reasons.

What The Network is trying to do is be a unified voice. We think there are a lot of people around the world talking about the skinny issue, the “size 0″ issue, or girls are sticking their fingers down their throats to emulate the girls walking down the runways. And we’re not taking any responsibility, our industry. Plus sized clothing, they call it “plus size” when these women are actually healthy and normal women.

So I think there are a lot of voices around the world, major editors and major magazines that are saying the same thing I’m saying. The only problem is that it’s bifurcated, and it’s all over the world. What we’re trying to do is have one unified voice so we can all talk about these issues that are really, really important to us, from Photoshopping, super skinny girls walking down the runway, and 15-year old girls being half-naked shooting huge advertising campaigns where no 15-year old girl could even afford those clothes. So we’re trying to do things that a lot of other people are talking about, we just happen to have a TV show where we can talk and have a platform to scream from.

THE DEADBOLT: With the show, what was the most professionally challenging episode to film this season?

FISHER: Each one has been professionally challenging. We selected agencies that were definitely hurting and ones we thought we could definitely assist. Out of the 8, with 5 or 6, the biggest challenge was that they they all thought they knew what they were doing was correct. I had to convince them they had no clue about what they were doing.

But I guess the most challenging episode would have to be maybe the second episode. They had a modeling school, they talked a lot about God and being religious and caring about the kids when in reality they were just wanting to make a buck off of these little kids. When we walked out of that agency, the very next day they went back to [being a modeling school]. They call it a workshop now versus a school. That was probably my toughest one just because I really believe in people, and I believed them with every fiber of my being. When I get let down, that’s very difficult on me.

THE DEADBOLT: How hard is it to improve the modeling industry when you’re up against the media and the images that are being put out there?

FISHER: 150 agencies, that’s what I have on my brain. If I have 10 agencies around the world, or I have 40 agencies, are people really going to listen to Paul Fisher? Right now I’ve got about 50, I’m the largest in the world. Elite has 36 agencies, I have 50. Elite represents 6000 models, I represent 14,000. I’m not going to show my muscles, or have muscles to show when I’m 5-times bigger than Elite, when I’m 5-times bigger than my competition.

Over the next 12 to 18 months, when we’re sitting on 150 agencies around the world, with 10 or 15 of the biggest stars in the world, I believe we’ll have enough power and weight to truly make a huge difference in the modeling world. And probably not before that. We’ll chip away and chip away, people will hear things and they’ll be interested. But to truly have power in our industry, you have to have a tremendous amount of strength. When we’re at 100 agencies, or 150 agencies, with 40,000 kids, and 10 or 15 kids who are the biggest models in the world, I think people will then be forced to listen to me and my agencies around the world.

THE DEADBOLT: Given how young people are more socially aware, do you think the timing is right for this type of change and the show?

FISHER: Yeah. My new rap is social media is the new currency of this world. When they took our kids off the covers of Vogue magazine and they put 11 celebrities on Vogue and 11 celebrities on Bazaar each year out of every 12 months, we have to find a way to create our following and to create our brand. Now, with social media and the online presence, we can touch millions of people within minutes or seconds.

So as the show becomes stronger, as our Network becomes stronger, as our kids become stronger, and as our following increases, we can affect people’s bottom line. If major designers continue to use “size 00″ skinny girls and they contuinue to affect the way young women look in the mirror and see themselves because they can’t look like these “size 00″ skinny girls, it will affect their bottom line to the power of social media. I do think we will have an effect and it will be good. I think we have to become stronger and stronger and our following has to be come bigger and bigger.

THE DEADBOLT: How important is it for you to be honest no matter how people take your delivery?

FISHER: It’s everything to me. I can’t help myself. I made enough money and I made enough people famous and made some wonderful friends. My family is the most important thing to me aside from my faith. I swore to myself two and a half years ago that if I was ever to go back into the modeling industry – which I wasn’t excited about, coming back into this industry – that I would be brutally honest every step of the way, no matter what people thought.

People look at us like a reality show, but this is no reality show. The one rule I had with The CW was don’t tell me what to do, don’t tell me what to say, this is a docu-series. I’m not building a business because they’re doing a show on me.

I beg of your readers to go to our website, to NetworkTalent.com and see who we are. You’ll see my drug experts, my health experts, my parenting experts, my body conscious for women experts. You’ll see my models around the world talking about things that are really, really important. Anybody who thinks we’re just doing a reality show so I can walk into a place and get free dinner, we’re doing a docu-series so we can spread the message of health and wellness in our industry.

The Biggest Loser: Adrian Dortch, “I would not change my experience”

Food

Reality

The Biggest Loser

This week on The Biggest Loser, Adrian Dortch was eliminated from competition only a week after he and his sister returned to The Biggest Loser ranch. However, despite getting back on The Biggest Loser, Adrian had a tough time fitting in with his Red Team and found himself at odds with the other competitors at the ranch, namely Kim and Conda of his own team. Unfortunately, as soon as Adrian got back into The Biggest Loser competition, Dortch fell victim to the strong bonds previously formed by the Red Team.

So, how does Adrian feel now about his experience on The Biggest Loser and how things went down at the ranch?

When The Deadbolt spoke with Adrian Dortch the day after his elimination, Adrian was upbeat with a positive outlook.

“I believe my showing up, it might have been intimidating. To have your plans and then have someone thrown into the mix – I’m very strong. But my weeks at the ranch were excellent. I mean, I’m from Evanston, [Illinois], there are no mountains here. But I was able to go into the mountains and do Yoga and see all of L.A.. I had some of the best organic foods to eat and great trainers. The Biggest Loser franchise is awesome. Yeah, there was a lot of weird stuff that happened on the ranch, but I would not change my experience. Whatever doesn’t break you makes you stronger, and I’ve truly become stronger because of the experience.”

Adrian and Dolvett on The Biggest Loser

Although Adrian can now look back at his time on The Biggest Loser as a positive experience, it was clear that Adrian was frustrated with the show and those who had it out for him. And when it came to the elimination, it wasn’t a surprise that the Red Team chose to send Adrian packing from The Biggest Loser.

So why didn’t Adrian just get up and leave The Biggest Loser when he knew he’d likely be the one to go home? As Adrian told The Deadbolt, it was more about being prepared on many levels beyond the drama.

“I kind of figured either Roy or myself would be somebody they would be eliminating. With Roy being there longer, I just knew it was me. But I actually wrote a letter to my sister before we even went into the weigh in just in case there was a chance I was eliminated. It was a lot of stress being on the actual ranch just with that amount of confusion.”

At the same time, Adrian also added to The Deadbolt that he understood the health aspects of what was taking place as well.

“If you know anything about losing weight,” Adrian continued, “your Cortisone levels have to be low in order to lose weight. There are three factors: nutrition, the work out, and how you’re feeling. Your Cortisone levels have to be low. I had great weight loss success when I was at home.”

When looking back at The Biggest Loser drama and his former team mates who had it out for him, Adrian felt that he was a winner based on the progress he had already made prior to returning to the ranch.

“I’m continuing to have great weight loss success at home. Why everything went the way it did, you’d probably have to ask them. Music aside, Ricky Martin is just so enthralling to watch, and rightfully so since he’s been a performer all his life. In his Glee guest role, Ricky came across as such a believable character in the role of Spanish tutor David Martinez.

Unlike the character of Will Schuester (Matthew Morrison), however, whose head I want to put through a car wash conveyor in order to see if it actually can be waxed anymore, Martin’s David Martinez instantly captivated the Glee club and had all the girls and Kurt (Chris Colfer) swooning. Although it looked as if Quinn Fabray (Diana Agron) was about to jump David’s bones during his performance of LMFAO’s “Sexy and I Know It”, it was a fun performance, minus of course Finn trying to dance and keep pace with you know who. Ouch. Put it away Finn, you’re going to knock out a hip or Rachel’s eye.

In “The Spanish Teacher”, I loved the way Sam (Chord Overstreet) and Mercedes (Amber Riley) were allowed time to develop a relationship. I’m not a fan of the whole cheating thing, or as Emma put it, a two-timing ho, but this reminds me of the believable chemistry between Tina (Jenna Ushkowitz) and Mike (Harry Shum Jr). Sam’s Glee rendition of the Gypsy King’s “Bamboleo” was also hilarious, as were the shoes the boys wore during the performance. But if I see another bolo tie on this show, I may scream!

Now there’s something that really annoys me about Glee, aside from their one-dimensional characters and the writers abject refusal to follow through on any storyline except for the awful Finchel mess, and that’s Naya Rivera’s obvious inability to speak Spanish. Don’t get me wrong here Gleeks, I love Naya Rivera as much as the next person. I think she’s one of the few Glee actors who has actually managed to grow on this show. But why, oh why, would Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan continue to make her speak Spanish when she clearly has such a heavy gringo accent?

Ricky Martin in Glee "The Spanish Teacher"

If you’re wondering why this peeves me, it’s because I’m half Hispanic, and I have about 1/10 of the accent she has when speaking Spanish. It doesn’t make any sense for Santana Lopez to be speaking Spanish at all, especially when she clearly has such a heavy accent. Why is this such a big deal? Because there’s no need for it! Santana can still be a proud Latina without embarrassing herself by trying to speak Spanish. I find it hard to believe that a character who is supposedly so determined to stay true to her Hispanic roots has an accent equivalent to Sofia Vergara trying to speak English without her Colombian accent.

Glee never had to make Santana speak Spanish, and the fact that they’re trying to push it is insulting to other actors who have worked tirelessly to speak with or without one. It’s like when J.Lo released her single, “Jenny from the Block”. You’re not fooling anyone when you went to private, Catholic school in the Bronx. It’s just not as “street” as people should believe. This isn’t going to be a Mila Kunis moment.

Then of course, there was that ridiculous Elvis Presley number by Will Schuester. I don’t know how, but he manages to ruin music for me almost every episode. Not only did he sing “A Little Less Conversation”, which I’m not sure if it was an intentional message for Gleeks to want him to stop talking in English AND Spanish, but the matador outfit had me sinking into my couch cushions in embarrassment. What could make it even more ridiculous? Having poor Mike and Brittany “dancing” as bulls. What? I don’t even know. At least Sue Sylvester’s (Jane Lynch) heart-to-heart with Becky was a high point, although I would love to see Sue throw sticks at Mercedes again, just because it was so random and funny.

Overall Rating: 3 out of 4 Bolts for this episode
Highlight: Aside from Ricky Martin, Emma’s pamphlets. They were perfectly in tune with her personality.

What did you guys think of Glee and “The Spanish Teacher” with Ricky Martin?

Supernatural Producer Preview of “Plucky Pennywhistle’s”

Action

Drama

Fantasy

Horror

Mystery

Teen

Supernatural

The CW

The CW released a new Supernatural preview ahead of the episode “Plucky Pennywhistle’s Magical Menagerie” with guest commentary from series producer Robert Singer.
