THE DEADBOLT: I can imagine.

BONADUCE: Yeah, it’s not a lot of fun at all. But now you add to the great "not fun", because it’s also not a viable mode of transportation. Add to it, why don’t you take the uncomfortable thing that’s not that fun nor viable as a mode of transportation and ride it backwards.

THE DEADBOLT: It would be strange. I've never done it.

BONADUCE: The funny thing is though, is that they got the right guy at least because I’m - I think angry would be a strong word - but if I’m pushed enough, I will learn to do this stuff, or at least as much as I can by the day shooting starts. I don’t think there’s a dare or a challenge I’ve never taken and that’s why I have metal in every single quadrant of my body. I have steel, stainless steel, brass, copper, and now titanium from my last wreck. I set off every metal detector in the world just by showing up. But there’s never been a dare I haven’t taken. And just because they’re a big TV company doesn’t mean that they didn’t say the words, "I dare ya." I didn’t take it as that at first. I figured, "Cool, a job. I’ll be on TV, it’s a network show, and I work for CBS Radio. They’ll probably be happy and everything will be cool." But now I finally took it as, "Hey, they’re kind of daring me." So I’m not kidding you, the unicycle is with me all of the time and I practice constantly.

THE DEADBOLT: Of all the stars on the show, who do you see as your biggest competition?

BONADUCE: Roy Jones Jr., because he’s probably one of my all time heroes. I think he’s possibly one of the greatest boxers who ever lived. But I don’t know that singing and dancing is a hidden talent. I don’t know what they’re looking for, because I don’t know what kind of hidden talent is going to win. I don’t know if it’s a surprise that one of the world’s greatest boxers can sing. Once you sing, how hidden is that? It’s a surprise that a tough guy can sing, but I don’t know if that’s the hidden talent to beat. Then there’s Clint Black doing comedy. Now I do comedy for a living and I sell out and make a great deal of money at it, and every night I am terrified. I’m so scared every night before I hit the stage. And what balls it takes to get out in front of a crowd and try and tell jokes and make people laugh. I admire that a great deal, and if he’s actually funny, that’s a pretty great hidden talent that this country star turns out to be a funny comic. That would be a hidden talent to me. Give me another one and I’ll let you know if I’m surprised or not.

THE DEADBOLT: How about Joe Frasier? He's singing and he'll be your competition.

BONADUCE: [laughs] Joe Frasier, one of the all time greatest heavyweights, you can’t understand a word the man says when he speaks. Have you ever talked to Joe Frasier?

THE DEADBOLT: Not yet.

BONADUCE: I’ll give you a direct quote from Joe Frasier. You ready? - "HJ#$@ *p&&&* $Wff%jjkk kko0#@ syyt&#@**" - that’s a direct quote. But if he can sing well, I will be hugely surprised. I don’t know if it’s going to be the best talent that wins. Surprisingly, some people are that good at it. I'm surprised they’d even try it. Who is it that’s doing gymnastics?

THE DEADBOLT: Marla Maples.

BONADUCE: If Marla is good at gymnastics, I will see Marla as the biggest threat because it’s spectacular. Some of the tricks I’m trying to learn to do on the unicycle are spectacular, so that’s the way I’m trying to think. And if she can really fly, I think that’s the kind of competition because I’m riding a unicycle. What I have done since, as you know, if you check my medical report, I’ve already broken 72 bones or something ridiculous like that. I have asked the producers of CBS, can we concentrate on some of the "I couldn’t do that" moments because I’m practicing and learning to do a lot of these tricks. But can we add some "I wouldn’t do THAT," and make it so dangerous that other people wouldn’t do it. Then I don’t have to be better on the unicycle, I just have to be crazy. They asked, "Like what?" and I said, "I don’t know... make an obstacle course of helicopter rotor blades." And of course they said, "No."

And then I asked, "How about something a little wider than a balance beam and ride it right over a shark tank or something, with live sharks in it?" They said, "Sharks are really expensive," so my safety wasn’t the number one priority on that one. Some of the more difficult tricks, they’re difficult, but unless you rode a unicycle you wouldn’t know how difficult they are. You'd think riding a unicycle is hard enough, some of these things that are just little tricks take a great deal of time for me to learn. So I’m trying to add elements of danger and spectacular. And just when I come out on the unicycle, where people would first go, "Oh wow, he rides a unicycle," and then have them go, "Holy sh*t, he just rode a unicycle through a shark tank!" So I’m trying to add some talent and the "There’s something seriously wrong with Danny Bonaduce, let’s vote for him."

THE DEADBOLT: So after the show airs, can we expect to see Danny Bonaduce riding around L.A. on a unicycle?

BONADUCE: Well, it’s funny because it’s shown up on websites and things like that - pictures of me riding around on a unicycle. That’s one of the things the teacher told me. With the cardio involved with uncycling, people don’t really understand - you can’t help yourself with any other part of your body except your lower legs. You’re moving. In my case a 170 lbs., without ever leaning forward, backward, you constantly have to pedal or you stop. I’m not even skilled enough to go very slow, so to do anything... it takes such a level of cardio, I can’t believe it. And I just quit smoking three packs-a-day 30 days ago.

THE DEADBOLT: That must have been REALLY tough, both.

BONADUCE: Can I tell you something? I swear to god, learning these unicycle tricks are ten times harder. I would rather fight Joe Frasier than continue to work this hard. I’d go in, take my beating and then go home, because riding this unicycle the way they want me to; I don’t want to knock anybody down.
