Elijah Wood is busy these days and The Deadbolt locks down the latest on his next project, the Lexi Alexander helmed film Green
Street Hooligans, an Odd Lot released British football
drama.
If you've been away from the field, Green
Street Hooligans is a drama centering on the dark underworld
of soccer violence, directed by Lexi Alexander (Fool
Proof, Johnny Flynton), starring Elijah Wood,
Claire Forlani, and Charlie Hunnam. The film storyline focuses on Matt Buckner (Wood), who is expelled unfairly from Harvard and flees to England to his sister’s (Claire Forlani) home. Once there, he's befriended by her charming and dangerous brother-in-law, Pete Dunham (Charlie Hunnam), and introduced to the underworld of British football hooliganism. Matt learns to stand his ground through a friendship that develops against the backdrop of this secret and often violent world. Green Street Hooligans is a story of loyalty, trust, and the sometimes brutal consequences of living close to the edge.
Are you having a hard time seeing Elijah Wood as a
violent soccer hooligan instead of the loveable hobbit,
Frodo Baggins. If so, then check out a quick peak at
Wood's transformation from American kid into a brutal
British football gang member. Check out the images below for a closer inspection of the film's tone.

Green Street Hooligans is the winner of the
2005 SXSW Jury and Audience Awards for Best Narrative
Feature, as well as being an official selection at the
Tribeca, Atlanta and Edinburgh Film Festivals. Unlike
American sports films, Green Street focuses more on
the comradery of the many gangs of fans, also called
Firms , than on the sport itself. To find out more click on
