Jason Statham Signs On For More Crank
October 30, 2007

In the least expected sequel news of the year, Jason Statham is going to make a sequel to his action flick, Crank, a movie that didn't exactly make a smash in theaters but did very well overseas and on DVD. If you've seen Crank, you're probably already wondering how Jason Statham could return for Crank 2, considering his character - SPOILER WARNING - falls from a helicopter very, very far and very, very fast. The character played by Jason Statham in Crank, Chelios, clearly dies a brutal death at the end of Crank, but this is the movies, why would that stop anyone from making a sequel?

Variety is reporting that directors Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor are going to start filming Crank 2: High Voltage with Jason Statham for Lionsgate as soon as the duo are finished with their current project, Game. In Crank 2, Jason Statham will reprise his role as Chelios, as he faces a Chinese mobster who has literally stolen his heart and replace3d it with a battery-powered model that requires regular jolts of electricity to keep functioning (High Voltage! Get it??!) Chelios is likely to be angry again and causing complete havoc like he did in the first Crank. How on Earth Chelios survived that plummet at the end of the first film hasn't been answered. It probably just made him angry. No one wants to mess with Jason Statham when he's angry.

Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor have to finish shooting Game before they can make Crank 2: High Voltage. Game is a futuristic thriller that stars Gerard Butler (300), Michael C. Hall, and Alison Lohman and starts shooting in Albuquerque of all places next week.

The 35-year-old Jason Statham debuted in Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels in 1998 and went on to star in Snatch, Ghosts of Mars, The One, The Transporter, The Italian Job, Collateral, The Transporter 2, The Pink Panther, Crank, and War. You will next catch Jason Statham in In the Name of the King: A Dungeon Siege Tale and The Bank Job. Jason Statham is currently filming Death Race and it's unclear if he'll go into The Brazilian Job, a sequel to The Italian Job, or Crank 2 next. Jason Statham loves his sequels.
