Lane Garrison heads to prison, for real
October 31, 2007
Halloween is supposed to be a scary time of year, but for one Hollywood actor, Wednesday, October 31, 2007 was a truly terrifying day. Lane Garrison, the former Prison Break actor involved in a fatal car accident in December 2006 headed to an L.A. courtroom on Halloween to learn what his sentence would be, and was handed a three-year, four-month prison term.
Given all of the recent DUI charges being leveled against celebs in L.A., it’s surprising that an incident similar to what happened to Lane Garrison hasn’t happened more often. Since Garrison's unfortunate day in December 2006 Lane, has been awaiting his fate on the DUI related death of 17-year-old passenger, Vahagn Setian. It was also revealed during the initial investigation that while Lane Garrison was found to have a blood alcohol level twice the legal limit, there was also cocaine in his system at the time of the crash.
Even though Lane Garrison is undoubtedly worried about his time behind bars, the Prison Break actor was cut a break. According to California law, Garrison faced six years and eight months in jail for his part in the death of Vahagn Setian. The sentence was split down the middle and Lane Garrison was handed a three year, four month sentence in a Beverly Hills court.
Before being led away, Lane Garrison gave a remorseful statement, vowing to change his ways. " I just want to say how sorry I am to the Setian family. I am sickened by my behavior on that night. My thoughts keep coming back to that night. I want to show that my walk with sobriety will be very easy. I want to help other kids not make the same mistake I did."
For good reason, and we're sure Lane would agree, this is one time when Lincoln Burrows and Michael Scofield shouldn't help break anyone out of jail.
