Pierce Pops Paparazzi
October 31, 2007

The the standard story in Hollywood these days seems to go something like this... a photographer’s word versus a celebrity’s word. It's often hard to tell who the wrongdoer really is, especially in the tabloids. Well, here we are again. This time it involves ex-James Bond, Pierce Brosnan and allegations that he sucker punched a photographer in Malibu over the weekend. Did he actually do it? The investigation is still ongoing, so we’ll have to wait and see. In the meantime, online outlets are trying to piece together the story themselves. Right, like that's really going to find the get to the bottom of things.

Anyway...

The story, according to TMZ, who were told by Rob Rosen, the photographer claiming to have been attacked by Pierce Brosnan, goes like this... Rosen was in the same Malibu shopping mall as Brosnan on October 26, 2007 and everything was fine until Rosen asked about 007. The photog then claimed that Pierce lost it and went crazy. Rosen reveals that " his eyes went crazy", and then Brosnan shouted, "Why don't you just get the f**k out of my face!"

It sounds a little out of the ordinary that Pierce Brosnan would just snap over a question about James Bond, and more supposedly comes to light as Rosen served up more details to the apparent altercation. Rosen was snapping pictures of Brosnan and his kids outside Casa Escobar at the mall, which is what [ushed the actor over the edge. Rosen then reveals that Pierce Brosnan said, "Why don't you get a real f**king job?". Apparently, this is where the compliments about James Bond enter the story, but Brosnan was still ticked off. According to Rob Rosen, Pierce Brosnan said, "Why don't you f**k off, mate." Brosnan supposedly punched the photog in the ribs and Rosen retaliated with a kick to Brosnan’s stomach.

It was serious and credible enough for the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department to begin an investigation. Sheriff's Department spokesman, Steve Whitmore did confirm to Reuters that an investigation was under way. "We are investigating Mr. Brosnan, who is alleged to have committed a battery." Whitmore refused to give any more details, except to confirm that the incident did in fact take place at a Malibu mall.
