CBS Mobile launches new Danny Bonaduce series
November 5, 2007
CBS Mobile will launch itself into new territory next Monday, as the TV network announced plans to debut its first original animated program, Danny Bonaduce: Life Coach on mobile video services across America. The cartoon series will feature a likeness of the Partridge Family star as Bonaduce satirically offers advice to today's troubled celebrities.
So far, CBS Mobile has announced that the first episode of Danny Bonaduce: Life Coach will kick off on November 12, with new episodes following every two weeks. In total, eight animated episodes have been ordered, which will vary in length from three to five minutes. The episodes will be made available through the CBS Audience Network, as well as on their web site, www.cbs.com.
For the premiere episode of Danny Bonaduce: Life Coach, the most commonly cited celebrity, Britney Spears, will be the first to be given expert advice by the once-troubled child actor. The pilot episode, "Britney Explained", features Bonaduce as he draws upon his own turbulent past to offer up dubious and often-bad advice for these troubled celebrities. Thanks to Danny Bonaduce's well-documented run-ins with the law, the humor of each episode is twofold.
Cyriac Roeding, the Executive VP at CBS Mobile, said, "We feel a strong social responsibility at CBS Mobile, especially for celebrities in need. So we thought, what better way to help than providing timely advice from Danny Bonaduce, a life management expert, on a most personal medium - the cell phone?" Roeding joked, ""So there you have it. Whenever a celebrity has a problem, watch Danny's new episode a week or two after because we like to help in real-time."
The new CBS Mobile show will also feature other interactive elements, specifically crafted for a mobile phone audience. The series is part of a broader campaign by CBS to increase their viewership in non-traditional markets, such as the Internet and cell phone customers.
