Shia LaBeouf arrested for trespassing
November 5, 2007

Shia LaBeouf, one of Hollywood's most promising young actors, was arrested early Sunday morning in Chicago after the Transformers star refused to leave a Walgreen's drug store, police said. Publicists for Shia LaBeouf have not commented on the arrest.

Shia LaBeouf, who has been dubbed the "next Tom Hanks", was arrested after a security guard instructed the actor to leave the Walgreens store at 2:30 a.m. Sunday morning. CNN reports that police spokesperson Laura Kubiak said Shia LaBeouf - who appeared to be drunk - refused to leave the store and was arrested by police. Kubiak noted that LaBeouf was "very courteous and polite" during his arrest.

Police have stated that Shia LaBeouf posted bond before 7 a.m. Sunday morning, though the bail amount was not known at the time. As a result of the arrest, Shia LaBeouf has been scheduled to appear in Cook County court on November 28. It was unclear if Shia LaBeouf was actually drunk at the time of the arrest, as police did not breathalyze the actor since he was not driving at the time of his arrest.

LaBeouf is in Chicago where he is filming the political thriller Eagle Eye, in which he and Rosario Dawson star. The plot centers on an underachiever [LaBeouf] and a single mother [Dawson] who inadvertently stumble upon a terrorist plot. Before Eagle Eye hits theatres, Shia LaBeouf will star alongside Harrison Ford in the fourth Indiana Jones film, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. LaBeouf is also expected to reprise his role as Sam Witwicky in Transformers 2, due out sometime in 2009.
