Arrest Warrant Issued for Hayden Panettiere
November 15, 2007

Japanese authorities have issued an arrest warrant for Heroes hottie Hayden Panettiere after Panettiere participated in a Save the Whales protest close to Taiji in southwestern Japan on October 30. Hayden Panettiere, a devoted activist, joined other activists in a protest against fishermen during the area's dolphin hunt. Reports indicate that Panettiere hopped a surfboard and paddled out to confront a fishing boat, but was turned away and later spotted sobbing on the shore. Panettiere's sorrow was captured by a video camera and uploaded to the Internet, which has since raised international awareness on both Japan's dolphin hunt and Hayden Panettiere as an activist.

According to Heroes star Hayden Panettiere, who recently talked to E! News, the Japanese arrest warrant may not affect her now that she's back in the U.S. As well, Panettiere is fully aware that some sort of penalty may come her way, but in what form is up for grabs, ""Potentially jail, but I doubt it... I guess they could come here and get us, but probably not."

A young actress who's not about to let one arrest warrant from Japan hold her back from making a difference in the world, Hayden Panettiere is looking to a bright future as an activist, as she revealed to E News! "I'd do it again... Very possibly, might do it again.". As for how the incident and arrest warrant raised awareness around the world, Panettiere indicated to E! News that celebrity is not just about grabbing headlines for doing nothing, "I was very excited that people were interested in what we did... In [Hollywood], you tend to only get publicity for not wearing underwear or going to rehab."

Hayden Panettiere has been acting for years, having landed roles in such films as A Bug's Life, Remember the Titans, Joe Somebody and The Architect. Panettiere may be best known to daytime soap fans after playing Lizzie Spaulding on the long-running Guiding Light before going on to more higher profile roles on Ally McBeal, Malcolm in the Middle, and her current gig as the self-healing cheerleader, Claire Bennet on NBC's Heroes.
