Since there are more heavyweights involved with Charlie Wilson's War than in Don King's rolodex, we're sure hoping the December 25 release lives up to the power of its cast. Starring Tom Hanks, Julia, Roberts, and Philip Seymour Hoffman, Charlie Wilson's War is shaping up to be one of the "must see" movies over the Christmas holidays. Directed by veteran helmer Mike Nichols (Catch-22, Working Girl, The Birdcage and Primary Colors, Charlie Wilson's War was adapted for the big-screen by former West Wing and Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip creator Aaron Sorkin from the best-selling George Crile novel.

A true story about a flamboyant playboy congressman (Hanks) who joins forces with a beautiful Houston socialite (Roberts) and a CIA agent (Hoffman) to lead the biggest and most successful covert operation in U.S. history, Charlie Wilson's War outlines how their covert efforts contributed to the downfall of the Soviet Union, the Russian pull-out from Afghanistan, and how their alliances with the Pakistanis, Israelis, Egyptians, arms dealers, law makers and a belly dancer, helped to shape the world we live in today.
