Christina Strips For Marie Claire
November 28, 2007
One doesn't usually associate Marie Claire with controversy or nudity, but this month they're doing both with a naked Christina Aguilera on the cover. Oh yeah, and Xtina's VERY pregnant. Christina is barely wearing something on the cover of Marie Claire but she's completely naked and very pregnant inside the magazine with cleverly placed arms and legs keeping the magazine from getting into too much trouble. Honestly? Christina Aguilera looks great both on the cover and inside the magazine, which makes one wonder if that "pregnant glow" has found the singer of "Dirty" or if it's been airbrushed on.
It's not just pictures of Christina Aguilera in Marie Claire. There is an accompanying article in which the mega-hit singer talks about being pregnant and why she hid the fact for so long. She's definitely not hiding it any more. Christina says she didn't hide the pregnancy that she now flaunts because it was a "big, bad secret...I just wasn't commenting. I'm not being like, 'Hey, everybody, I'm pregnant!' I'm not that girl."
Christina Aguilera takes Marie Claire readers all the way back to the moment of conception that led to this cover shoot. No kidding. Seriously. She says it happened when she went off the pill and Bratman was visiting her after the Georgetown show during her Back to Basics tour. So, if you were at that Georgetown show, you were one of the last people to see Christina Aguilera not knocked up. Christina Aguilera charmingly tells Marie Claire, "We were planning on starting to try after the tour. And so, I had gone off the Pill to prepare my body, because I didn't know how much time it would take. You've heard it takes some time - except with Power Egg and Super Sperm here... I'm like, `Oh my god, can you believe it just happened?"
Christina Aguilera does admit that she was a bit nervous to continue the tour but things must move forward. She told Marie Claire that she even chose to wear a heart monitor. Christina said, "There are so many things that could go wrong somebody could slip, somebody could fall, I could fall. There was no way ... I was going to jeopardize my baby for my show. I didn't want to make the audience uncomfortable, like, `Pregnant lady onstage! Is she going to be OK?' But I had to announce it to my band and my dancers, because I wanted to make sure they had my back."
You can see Christina Aguilera's back and more on the January 2008 cover of Marie Claire, which hits store shelves on December 11th.
