If you're a fan of old school TV, namely the original spy series that inspired the contemporary big screen Mission Impossible franchise, then you might already know that the third season of Mission Impossible is when the series truly brought its A-game to the small screen. Although a lot of shows come into their own in their sophomore year, Mission Impossible did one better and churned out some of the best episodes of the series. When a young, up-start writer took the reigns, the series matured despite some major infighting taking place behind the scenes. If you're a hardcore fan, the third season serves as the swan songs of both Martin Landau and Barbara bain.

Aside from the amazing visual restoration from Paramount, the episodes make for an awesome retro-trip. As previously mentioned, the seven disc set contains what many consider the best twenty-five episodes the show ever created, which includes a more gadget heavy slate plus the creepy and realistic episode called "The Execution" where producers built a replica of a gas chamber. The best part of episode called "The Glass Cage" is that it almost feels like the inpiration for Magneto's cell in X-2. Then again, maybe it was.
A Martin Landau commentary would have been nice, especially since there weren't and features on the previous seasons!
Even though the set is devoid of any extras, this is one of the best TV series on DVD. The visual restoration and revamp makes the series look amazingly contemporary. If that's not enough incendive, then we'll remind you that this was also the last season to feature both Martin Landau and Barbara Bain, who were replaced the following year with none other than Leonard Nimoy.
