Teri Hatcher in hot Hydroderm
December 5, 2007

Teri Hatcher isn’t the first celebrity to be caught double-dipping on the product pitch side of the fence, and we're sure Hatcher won’t be the last. But Teri Hatcher, the most recent celeb to be called out for exalting two similar products, now has her own dose of legal troubles after Hydroderm filed suit claiming breach of contract with the Desperate Housewives actress.

E Online reports that according to court documents filed in Los Angeles, Teri Hatcher’s ISBE Productions signed a deal with Hydroderm back in November 2005 that would see the Desperate Housewives star promote the company’s line of anti-aging products. According to reports, Hatcher allegedly got into trouble with Hydroderm since it appeared she also endorsed City Cosmetics while under contract. The lawsuit also mentions in greater detail that Teri Hatcher was publicly photographed and interviewed promoting the competitor’s products, such as CityLips lip plumper, which is Hydroderm’s Volumizing Lip Serum’s direct competition.

As the $2 million lawsuit has yet to enter a courtroom, it’s anyone’s guess as to who is in the wrong. However, Teri isn’t just rolling over given the claims. Hatcher’s lawyer, Alan Wertheimer, revealed to E News that the lawsuit is "a transparent and pathetic effort to distract from its own failure to live up to its end of the agreement." Wertheimer also went on to suggest the claims and suit are a result of Hydroderm’s inter-office problems and not the fault of his client, "Despite having to deal with a frustrating series of changes in the ownership and management of Hydroderm over the last several years, Teri Hatcher has more than fully complied with all of her contractual obligations over the course of the relationship."

As for Teri Hatcher and the products, well, it does appear that Hatcher has beautiful skin and, if it is a direct result of Hydroderm, she might feel a bit underappreciated. As revealed by E News, the company mentions in the lawsuit that Teri has worked with several cosmetic companies over the years, " Hatcher's name, image and likeness have been linked to so many competitors' products (at least 17!) that it is anyone's guess as to what product keeps her skin and lips youthful."
