Warner Bros. refutes Madonna album title "Licorice"
December 7, 2007
After an earlier report this week from Billboard that indicated Madonna's upcoming album will be titled "Licorice" and will hit store shelves in April, a spokesperson for Warner Bros., Madonna's record label, has denied the claims in a recent e-mail to Reuters.
Earlier this week, Billboard reported that former Billboard editor Larry Flick played two new tracks from the upcoming Madonna album (Candy Shop and The Beat Goes On) that were leaked earlier in the year on his Sirius Satellite radio show and told listeners the title would be "Licorice." However, as the BBC reveals, it's not just Warner Bros. that's stating Flick got the title wrong, "... fan site Drowned Madonna claimed to have been at a listening session and said the album was tentatively titled Give It To Me.
As Reuters revealed on Friday, Warner Bros. spokesperson Liz Rosenberg came out quick to set the record straight in her e-mail, "Sirius does not know what they are talking about... Wrong title. Release date wrong etc."
Madonna's "yet-to-be-officially-titled" album will be her last studio cut for Warner Bros. before making the long term leap to the new Live Nation label venture Artist Nation.
