Wayans Brothers to Tackle Cop Genre
December 10, 2007

They've worked their comedy magic on scary movies, white socialites, and little people and now the Wayans brothers have been tapped to write and star in a spoof of cop movies. Don't be too surprised if it's called "Action Movie." According to today's Variety, Keenen Ivory, Shawn, and Marlon Wayans have been set up by Paramount Pictures to create a spoof of the cop action genre. The trade notes that the Scary Movie franchise has made over $420 million domestically for Dimension Films. Maybe we can start a new franchise. Whoopee.

Keenen Ivory Wayans, Marlon Wayans, and Shawn Wayans will not only appear in the film that they also wrote but will produce the untitled comedy project with their longtime production partner Rick Alvarez. Don't worry. You won't have to wait long for more Wayans brothers comedy. Before the new project announced this week, you'll be able to catch their scripted comedy The Life and Times of Marcus 'Felony' Brown on VH1. The brothers are all repped by WMA and manager Lisa Suzanne Blum.

The Wayans brothers rose to fame on In Living Color on Fox and turned that celebrity status into a very profitable movie career. Keenan Ivory Wayans has been more behind the camera, writing Hollywood Shuffle, I'm Gonna Git You Sucka, The Five Heartbeats, A Low Down Dirty Shame, Most Wanted, White Chicks, and Little Man. He also directed Scary Movie and Scary Movie 2. Marlon Wayans is more of an actor, appearing in Mo' Money, Above the Rim, The Sixth Man, Senseless, Requiem For a Dream, Scary Movie, Dungeons & Dragons, Scary Movie 2, The Ladykillers, White Chicks, Little Man, and Norbit.
