Lead Singer of Quiet Riot Overdosed
December 11, 2007

The lead singer of Quiet Riot, Kevin DuBrow, who died right around Thanksgiving, did so because of an accidental cocaine overdose, the Clark County Coroner's Office confirmed on Monday. The official autopsy report was released on Monday and revealed that the end of the beautiful noise created by Quiet Riot was because of drugs. It's a shame. The 52-year-old metalhead died on November 25th in his Las Vegas home and it was clear that there was no foul play or forced entry. At first, it seemed like perhaps Kevin DuBrow died of natural causes or an unusual heart problem, but now it's clear that it was his addiction to drugs that did him in.

It was noted when he died that Kevin DuBrow had been in good health in the weeks before he died and his bandmates rushed to make sure that fans didn't judge him too harshly. Right away, former Quiet Riot bassist Kelly Garni wrote, "I am already, within hours of this, having to deal with untrue rumors and speculation and that only adds fuel to that. There is a tendency for the subject of Kevin to incite flames on every board, and now is not the time for that." Sadly, it looks like some of those rumors were true.

According to police reports, they were drawn to the scene of Kevin DuBrow's passing on Sunday, November 25th, when a neighbor expressed concern and asked the Las Vegas Metro Police to do a welfare check. The spokeswoman for the police told E! that there were no signs of foul play in the death of the lead singer, which was made official around 5:20pm. MTV reported that DuBrow was seen in good health in October in New Orleans celebrating his birthday.

The last album by Quiet Riot was ironically called Rehab and was released in 2006. Quiet Riot will always hold the title of the first metal band to score a top 5 hit with "Cum On Feel the Noize," which made them instant stars with Metal Health. It was the first metal release to top the Billboard album charts. Metal Health sold 6 million copies. They would never top it again. After a series of break-ups and getting back together, Quiet Riot released Rehab last year, which will be the band's last studio album.

Head back and check out the first story about the death of Kevin DuBrow. Other recent drugs and death stories include the rumors that Britney Spears failed a drug test and the recent death of Pimp C.
