Jeopardy host Alex Trebek suffers mild heart attack

Canadian born host of the long running and popular TV quiz show Jeopardy!, Alex Trebek, 67, suffered a mild heart attack on Monday night at his California home. Trebek, a native of Ottawa, Ontario is said to be resting comfortably at Cedars Sinai hospital in L.A. and will undergo more tests on Tuesday to ensure his health is on the mend after the sudden heart attack. According to E Online, who spoke to a spokesperson for the Jeopardy! host, Alex Trebek is on the road to recovery just in time for the holidays and his work in 2008, "He is expected to recover in plenty of time to return to the studio in January for the next scheduled Jeopardy! tapings." Trebek's last close call came in 2004 when he was involved in an accident near his home that saw his truck nearly go over an embankment after falling asleep at the wheel. Host of Jeopardy! since 1984, Trebek has become a staple in primetime television. After rising through the TV ranks in Canada working for the CBC and as the host of the popular 70s series Stars on Ice. After venturing to the U.S. in search of success, Alex Trebek hosted such game and quiz shows as High Rollers, Battlestars, and Pitfall before landing hosting duties on Jeopardy. Trebek also played host to Classic Concentration and To Tell the Truth but is best known for his work on Jeopardy!. Away from the Jeopardy! set, Trebek spends a significant amount of time breeding thoroughbred horses on his 700 acre ranch in Creston, California.
