Charges Dropped Against Shia LaBeouf
December 12, 2007

Remember that weird story about Shia LaBeouf being charged with trespassing inside a Chicago Walgreen's Drug Store? Well, you won't have to remember it for long because Shia LaBeouf has avoided trouble with the law and seen the criminal charges that were facing him dropped today. According to the AP, Shia LaBeouf was in a Chicago courtroom today for only minutes before the prosecutors in the case revealed that they had received a letter from the Walgreen Co. and a security company saying that they no longer wanted to proceed with the case against the Transformers star. Disturbia, Transformers, Surf's Up, and a role in Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull, and now dodging a legal bullet - this really is the year for Shia LaBeouf.

The AP reports that Shia LaBeouf was in court today, unshaven and wearing a black jacket. They report that the Transformers star didn't speak to the news people huddled outside but did smile at them. He could have been charged with misdemeanor criminal trespassing after being arrested at about 2:30am on November 4th in the Walgreen's store on Michigan Avenue. The store is open 24 hours but a security guard had asked Shia LaBeouf to leave because he appeared to be drunk. Shia LaBeouf refused and the cops were called. We'll never know if Shia LaBeouf was drunk because a sobriety test wasn't administered because he wasn't driving.

Terry Gillespie, one of the attorneys who was in court today with Shia LaBeouf, told the press, "All I can tell you is we're grateful and he's on his way back to work and so am I."

Shia LaBeouf has had one of the most breakthrough years in Hollywood, going from moderately well-known child star to one of the biggest stars in town right now after Transformers, Disturbia, and landing a part in a little movie called Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull. The 21-year-old actor has already finished shooting Indiana Jones and moved on to director D.J. Caruso's follow-up to Disturbia called Eagle Eye with Rosario Dawson and Michelle Monaghan. You can catch Shia LaBeouf on DVD in Holes, Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle, The Battle of Shaker Heights, I Robot, Constantine, The Greatest Game Ever Played, A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints, Bobby, Disturbia, Surf's Up, and Transformers.
