After toiling away in the pages of graphic novels and comics only to go the big screen as a live action hero 2004 and then to DVD in the animated Hellboy: Sword of Storms and Hellboy: Blood and Iron, Hellboy is returning to theaters on July 11, 2008 in the live action sequel Hellboy II: The Golden Army.

As the next installment in the Hellboy franchise picks up steam, Universal Pictures has released the first production image of the big red hero with his Big Baby. As well, the official Hellboy website is now loaded with a ton of cool features to get fans pumped for the sequel, which include holiday e-cards, news, feature articles, early cast interviews from various outlets, a Guillermo del Toro concept art scrapbook, message boards, and a personal intro video from Abe Sapien.

With a signature blend of action, humor and character-based spectacle, the saga of the world’s toughest, kitten-loving hero from Hell continues to unfold in Hellboy 2: The Golden Army. After an ancient truce existing between humankind and the invisible realm of the fantastic is broken, hell on Earth is ready to erupt. A ruthless leader who treads the world above and the one below defies his bloodline and awakens an unstoppable army of creatures. Now, it’s up to the planet’s toughest, roughest superhero to battle the merciless dictator and his marauders. He may be red. He may be horned. He may be misunderstood.
