Amy Winehouse Arrested in London
December 18, 2007

Just when things looked a bit brighter for British singer Amy Winehouse after recently receiving six Grammy nominations, Winehouse's 2007 troubles took a turn for the worse on Monday when she was arrested in London over a formality relating to the witness-tampering case surrounding her husband Blake Fielder-Civil. Winehouse was arrested and later voluntarily made her way to a London police station where she was ordered to turn up for questioning. As well, Amy Winehouse also gave a DNA sample for the case and was fingerprinted, but wasn't charged or made a suspect in a case that's garnered worldwide headlines given Winehouse's massive popularity.

According to E News, Winehouse was later released and is scheduled to appear back in court in March 2008. E News also reports on the official statement given by Scotland Yard, which doesn't name Winehouse specifically, but does confirm an arrest, "A 24-year-old woman has been arrested by appointment at an East London police station... She is currently in custody. The arrest was made in connection with an investigation into perverting the course of justice."

Winehouse is slated to appear at the upcoming Grammy Awards on February 10, 2008 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, but given the latest incident Winehouse's troubles will most certainly carry over to 2008. Amy Winehouse's 2007 troubles included a drug induced siezure, her husband's incareceration, a bungled performance in Birmingham, England that led to the postponement of her tour, and a recent late night photo of the singer shirtless outside of her house.

Aside from being honored with six Grammy nominations, Winehouse had the best selling album of the year in Britain after her internationally recognized Back to Black was picked up by 1.2 million Brits.
