Two New Images of Jolie and McAvoy in "Wanted"

After several successful big screen adaptations, comic book and graphic novel geeks are now having their day in the cinematic sun. As Hollywood execs work like madmen to acquire the rights to hundreds of pre-existing graphic novel properties in the hope of turning them into big screen money makers, Universal Pictures is already preparing for the 2008 release of Wanted, the live-action big screen translation of Mark Millar's popular graphic novel series.

With 2008 almost on the horizon, Universal has released the latest images for Wanted, which include a cool gun-toting Angelina Jolie and an armed-and-ready James McAvoy. To lock down the newly released pics, check out the goods below.

Starring smokin' hot A-list actress/humanitarian vixen Angelina Jolie, rising star James McAvoy, acting vets Morgan Freeman and Terence Stamp, and rap superstar Common, Wanted... "tells the tale of one apathetic nobody’s transformation into an unparalleled enforcer of justice. In 2008, the world will be introduced to a hero for a new generation: Wesley Gibson.

"25-year-old Wes (James McAvoy) was the most disaffected, cube-dwelling drone the planet had ever known. His boss chewed him out hourly, his girlfriend ignored him routinely and his life plodded on interminably. Everyone was certain this disengaged slacker would amount to nothing. There was little else for Wes to do but wile away the days and die in his slow, clock-punching rut.

"Until he met a woman named Fox (Angelina Jolie).

"After his estranged father is murdered, the deadly sexy Fox recruits Wes into the Fraternity, a secret society that trains Wes to avenge his dad’s death by unlocking his dormant powers. Directed by Night Watch director Timur Bekmambetov, Wanted hits theaters on June 27, 2008.
