Eddie Murphy Gets Married

Only mere minutes into 2008 and we have our first celebrity wedding story of the year as Eddie Murphy has wed Tracey Edmonds on a private island off of Bora Bora yesterday, as confirmed to E! News this morning. According to the rep, Eddie Murphy and Tracey Edmonds tied the knot in "an intimate sunset ceremony" on the beach on the island near Bora Bora with only about two dozen family members and friends looking on. This is the second marriage for both Eddie Murphy and Tracey Edmonds.

E! reports that Tracey Edmonds was wearing a custom-designed dress that was created by Sugia Nazel and Jill Baracci. The site reports that the dress was an "off-white with a beaded French lace and silk tafetta ruffled train." They also report that Eddie Murphy and Tracey Edmonds marched down the beach aisle to "Makings of You" by Gladys Knight. The best man at the event was R&B singer Johnny Gill and the maid of honor for Tracey Edmonds was actress Nicole Avant.

There were rumors that Eddie Murphy was about to tie the knot to his fiance, as E! reported just after Christmas that guests were arriving in nearby Tahiti. Bora Bora is around 140 miles northwest of that point.

Eddie Murphy was married before to Nicole Mitchell. The two divorced in April of 2006, after having five children together. Eddie went and had a brief relationship with Melanie "Scary Spice" Brown and ended up getting her pregnant just before breaking up with her and hooking up with now-wife Tracey Edmonds. Brown gave birth to Angel Iris Murphy Brown. Tracey Edmonds is a film producer who recently made Who's Your Caddy? and Good Luck Chuck (yes, she owes the film world an apology). Edmonds was married before to Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds. The two were together for thirteen years and had two children. They were divorced in June of 2006.

The 46-year-old Eddie Murphy was last heard in Shrek the Third and last seen in Norbit. Eddie has finished filming Starship Dave with Elizabeth Banks, Gabrielle Union, and Ed Helms, which will be released on May 30th, and is currently working on NowhereLand with Thomas Haden Church and Vanessa Williams.
