Attorneys For BritBrit Leaving Her Behind
January 3, 2008
Britney Spears has frustrated her legal team so much that they're doing what most of us did months ago and leaving the pop princess behind. After BritBrit skipped a deposition, her attorneys had enough. According to E!, the team defending Britney Spears in her custody battle with ex-husband Kevin Federline in the battle for Sean Preston and Jayden James, are jumping ship.
It's not stated but the decision to leave Britney behind comes the same day that Spears missed her latest appointment to be deposed by Kevin Federline's legal camp. Britney Spears missed a scheduled appearance on December 12th and blamed anxiety and physical illness. There was emergency hearing after that when the attorney for K-Fed, Mark Vincent Kaplan, noted that Britney Spears felt good enough that night to go out with her friends later that night. Kaplan told People, "It's not fourth grade, where you get a doctor's note and it's all okay."
It seems like Britney's team got tired of making excuses. Sorrell Trope, the main guy heading the team defending Britney Spears, said in a statement, "There has been a breakdown in communications between Petitioner and Trope & Trope making further representation of her interests impossible."
The firm of Sorrell Trope isn't even Spears' first. She dropped attorney Laura Wasser back in September. Trope hasn't officially left camp. The judge needs to give permission. He told People, "A lawyer cannot simply withdraw from a case. We will ask the court to relieve us, which will be heard within a month's time."
