Jessica Simpson Blasts OK! Magazine

Jessica Simpson has taken aim at the celebrity magazine OK! after they claimed that the Newlyweds star had split from Dallas Cowboys Quarterback Tony Romo. OK! quoted a friend as saying that the two split because Dallas lost in the playoffs, saying, "Tony is now starting to blame her himself. Before dating Jessica, he was a Texas' golden boy. Now he's become a joke. He said he thought it was better if they went back to being friends." Jessica Simpson has claimed that the story is "utterly false" and that it reflects a "smear campaign", according to her lawyers.

TMZ reports today that the lawyers for Jessica Simpson have sent a letter to the Editor-in-Chief or OK!, Sarah Ivens. They claim that the entire article "is based on nothing more than rumor, gossip and innuendo." They claim that the article is just a part of a smear campaign since the Cowboys loss that has subjected Jessica to "public contempt, ridicule, aversion or disgrace" and they're asking OK! to "immediately publish a prominent and unambiguous" retraction.

The article went even further, hitting a personal note for the Simpson family by claiming that sister Ashlee Simpson has attempted to distance herself from her sister after the Romo-Cowboys debacle. The lawyers for Jessica Simpson also claimed that this was untrue. The article in question appeared in the February 4th issue of OK! magazine.
