G.I. Joe Script Review Hits Net
January 31, 2008

We just got a heads up from our friends at Latino Review that things are looking good on the G.I. Joe front. According to their latest story, it seems that a long and loyal writer for site took a look at the latest draft of Stuart Beattie's G.I. Joe script and recently offered up a review. As the report also reveals, "El Mayimbe" has read the latest and greatest on G.I. Joe after reviewing two previous script versions in the past, also linked on the site.

The first draft was written by David Elliot and Paul Lovett and that script got the "thumbs up" from "El Mayimbe". The second one was written by Hitman's Skip Woods, but the reviewer hated that script so much that he literally burned it. Latino Review claims that the review apparently sent shockwaves through Hollywood to the point that Stuart Beattie, who "Mayimbe" actually suggested in his review, was hired to take a swipe.

According to LR, despite no official word or confirmation, this is the third draft of G.I. Joe and the one that it looks like they'll use, discarding the first two scripts.

If you're just wondering if the reviewer liked it or not and want to stay spoiler-free, here's what you really want to know - "A f**king masterpiece and a love letter to G.I. Joe fans! A+. The third script in the trilogy is the f**king best! Hence the $170 million greenlight! This script is absolutely everything I want to see in a G.I. Joe movie!"

G.I. Joe doesn't open until August 7th, 2009, but if you want the early goods (beware of POTENTIAL SPOILERS) on what might be happening, Latino Review has the early buzz with their G.I. Joe script review.

One thing's for sure, "El Mayimbe"'s excitement is certainly infectious.
