Bonnaroo Line-Up Announced
February 6, 2008
The seventh annual Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival is going to be one of the coolest music fests of 2008 and include performances by Metallica, Pearl Jam, Kanye West, Willie Nelson, My Morning Jacket, and even an all-female Led Zeppelin cover band named Lez Zeppelin. There were rumors that the recently-reunited LED Zeppelin would be playing Bonnaroo. Not quite. But the show will still be amazing and fans will rock from June 12-15 in Manchester, Tennessee. Other artists on the bill include the Allman Brothers Band, B.B. King, M.I.A., Phil Lesh & Friends, Death Cab For Cutie, Vampire Weekend. Drive-By Truckers, Levon Helm, The Raconteurs, and Alison Kraus and Robert Plant. The Comedy Tent will include shows by Zach Galifianakis, Mike Birbiglia, Jim Norton, Brian Posehn, David Cross, and Janeane Garofalo.
The full lineup for the Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival includes 100 bands and 20 comedians on 13 stages over four days. Tickets will be on sale on February 16th exclusively on Bonnaroo.com.
Superfly Productions president Jonathan Mayers tells Billboard, "I actually feel like it's one of our strongest lineups to date and it strengthens our diversity within our programming. I know we still have a lot more to add, too, so I'm excited about it and feel like we're going to have a very successful year." Mayers also commented on the diversity of a show that features wide-ranging bands like Tool, The Police, Dierks Bentley, and White Stripes last year, telling Billboard, "That's a real testament to music and the diversity of people's interest. We're in a position to help introduce people to new things and hopefully the audience is open-minded and will discover what's out there."
In a sign that the times truly are a-changing, when you buy tickets to the 2008 Bonnaroo show you can also buy a commemorative DVD of the festival that will be sent to you in December. The DVD will include performances, backstage footage, and a 5.1 track directly from Bonnaroo's soundboard recordings. That's damn cool.
