Kristen Bell Signs On To Rome
February 11, 2008

The star of Veronica Mars and Heroes, Kristen Bell, has signed on to the romantic comedy, When in Rome, which Mark Steven Johnson will direct for Disney, according to today's trades. Reuters reports that Kristen Bell has joined the production that will be funded by Gary Foster, Rikki Bestall, and Andrew Panay. When in Rome was written by David Diamond and David Weissman.

When in Rome will star Kristen Bell as a love-starved New York curator who steals magical coins from the Trevi fountain in Rome (made famous in Roman Holiday) and finds herself pursued back to New York by a band of aggressive suitors. It turns out that the men who threw coins in the fountain find themselves pursuing Kristen Bell's character after she steals them. Interesting concept for a romantic comedy. Reuters reports that they will start filming When in Rome in mid to late-April and that Kristin Burr and Todd Murata will oversee for Disney.

Mark Steven Johnson isn't really familiar with romantic comedy, making his name directing Daredevil and Ghost Rider. The 27-year-old Kristen Bell is still most well-known for Veronica Mars but has also appeared in Spartan, Deadwood, Pulse, Gossip Girl, and the upcoming Forgetting Sarah Marshall. She has also finished shooting Fanboys with Dan Fogler, Jay Baruchel, and Seth Rogen.
