Bai Ling Blames Arrest on Breakup

The stunning Bai Ling was arrested preflight on Wednesday at LAX and is now blaming her arrest on a bad breakup right before Valentine's Day. Apparently, losing at love pushed Bai Ling over the edge into shoplifting, which led to her arrest. She was supposed to fly from LAX to New Mexico on Wednesday to begin shooting a film and she was dealing with the "huge problem of breaking up [before] Valentine's Day" when she was arrested. According to E!, she blamed the whole incident on simply "Wrong boyfriend."

Bai Ling was supposed to board a Southwest flight from LAX to Albuquerque on Wednesday when she was detained by a gift shop employee for trying to leave the store with $16 worth of magazines and AAA batteries. Weird. Bai Ling was even taken into custody and booked on one count of misdemeanor shoplifting at the Pacific Station near LAX and was released on her own recognizance.

A close friend of Bai Ling, Damon Elliott, told E!, "She was kind of in a mentally unstable state of mind yesterday. She had some relationship issues going on. She wasn't in the right frame of mind."

Bai Ling added some postings to her blog this week and none of them addressed the arrest specifically but they did allude to the break up. On an entry that day, she wrote, "Delayed the flight, [wandering] again in the airport like a ghost, why can't I just be the sun smile? Life is a sad song sometime but still sings the beauty for their loved ones..."

Bai Ling was headed to Albuquerque to shoot Love Ranch, Taylor Hackford's follow-up to Ray. It's the true story of the opening of the first legal brothel in Nevada and Ling was to play one of the girls. Considering the small scale of the arrest, one can assume she will still play that role, but it's unclear from early reports. Bai Ling has had major guest roles on Lost and Entourage. You can catch the 37-year-old model/actress in The Crow, Red Corner, Wild Wild West, Anna and the King, Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow, and as Senator Bana Breemu in Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith.
