Three More Patients Join "Shutter Island"
February 26, 2008

If you've read Shutter Island by Dennis Lehane, you know that Martin Scorsese's adaptation of the novel is going to be fantastic and the big screen property got even better today with the addition of three more amazing cast members - Emily Mortimer, Jackie Earle Haley, and Max Von Sydow. The trio of actors join Leonardo DiCaprio in his latest venture with the legendary Martin Scorsese, which is being produced by Paramount Vantage and begins production next week.

DiCaprio and Mark Ruffalo play U.S. marshals in Shutter Island who have to travel to a Massachusetts island to investigate a case after a patient disappears from a hospital for the criminally insane. They get stuck on the island after a hurricane comes in and then things get really weird. Max Von Sydow will play a physician in the hospital in one of the best bits of casting so far this year. Ben Kingsley, Michelle Williams, and Patricia Clarkson are already cast in one of our most anticipated movies in any state of production. The book by Mystic River's Dennis Lehane was adapted by Laeta Kalogridis.

Max Von Sydow recently appeared in The Diving Bell and the Butterfly. Emily Mortimer was recently seen in Lars and the Real Girl and had a great guest-stint on 30 Rock. Jackie Earle Haley staged a comeback with an Oscar nomination for Little Children and will be seen this week in the Will Ferrell toplined Semi-Pro.
