The Deadbolt Mentioned in USA Today
March 20, 2008

On the heels of our newly launched feature series called Trailer Tracking, where we explore the best and worst of the many upcoming movie trailers, The Deadbolt's Tom Burns recently had the good fortune to share his thoughts on the state of a few upcoming trailers with USA Today writer Mike Snider. The USA Today feature also features comments from a couple of our old peers from days gone by, Ain't it Cool News head-honcho Harry Knowles and ComingSoon.net editor in chief Mirko Parlevliet, who we also remember from the early days of MovieHeadlines.

In Tuesday's edition of USA Today, Snider's feature "These movie trailers are pulling in Web traffic" explored a number of upcoming trailers that included Iron Man, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, The Dark Knight, the Judd Apatow comedy Pineapple Express, and the upcoming M. Night Shyamalan helmed thriller The Happening.

When asked to give his thoughts on the appeal of the recent Iron Man trailer, The Deadbolt's Tom Burns told USA Today, "It is hard to exaggerate how effective the early trailers for Iron Man have been. ... The best compliment that I can pay the Iron Man marketing team is that, when the last trailer was released, my wife, who is not a superhero fan, grabbed my arm and said, 'I'll go see that with you.' They made the movie look like, first and foremost, a damn good time, and all the superhero CGI stuff is just icing on the cake. Good movie first, superhero origin story second."
