Britney Spears Draws Big Numbers for CBS' "Mother"
March 25, 2008

On Monday night, Britney Spears appeared on the CBS sitcom How I Met Your Mother and the show's viewership jumped by an estimated 1 million watchers. Was last night's appearance on How I Met Your Mother a sign that Britney Spears' career is on the mend? Although the Spears appearance wouldn't have made too much news during her prime, Britney proved she can still draw fans, even if it was more out of morbid media induced curiosity than anything else.

As E News reports, Britney's acting stint on Mother had more flair than her last TV appearance on the MTV Awards, "On it, she played a sensitive secretary at a dermatologist's office visited by Josh Radnor's Ted. She appeared about, rough estimate, 1,000 percent more engaged than she did at the Video Music Awards."

According to CBS and the Nielsen numbers, viewership for How I Met Your Mother was up from last week's 9.7 million, averaging 10.6 million viewers. As we mentioned, Britney Spears can still draw a crowd since the numbers don't lie.

In recent months - and years now that we think of it - Britney Spears has endured a string of troubles, ranging from the ongoing custody battle for her children with ex-hubby Kevin Federline to her recent hospitalization for mental fitness reasons. To say the least, the last couple of years haven't been good to Britney Spears.

However, after drawing big numbers for How I Met Your Mother, Britney's TV appearance is a much needed bright spot for Spears, which might be the start of good things to come. If Spears can get on a roll, Britney just might be able to make a clean recovery after so many troubling events that have been played out in the public arena.

Was last night's appearance on How I Met Your Mother a sign that Britney Spears' career is on the mend? At this point, any sign is a good sign for Britney and her career.
