Hugh Jackman Teams with Virgin Comics for "Nowhere Man"
March 25, 2008

After perfecting the role of Wolverine in the X-Men movies, actor Hugh Jackman has become a comic book star. On Tuesday it was officially announced that Jackman will be continuing his good fortune in the comic book world with Virgin Comics, as the Wolverine actor has teamed with Virgin to created the comic book series Nowhere Man, a futuristic story set within a world where privacy has become a commodity.

According to Reuters, Jackman will also be taking up co-writing duties on the project as Nowhere Man "will be written by Jackman and Marc Guggenheim, who wrote Marvel comics' 'Wolverine" series and "Amazing Spider-Man.'" Like many writers are trying to do these days, Hugh Jackman recently revealed that he's hoping Nowhere Man will take off with fans and become the launching for a subsequent movie.

Although Jackman has kept himself busy in recent years beyond the comic book world, it's clear Hugh recognizes the huge potential of comic book properties on the big screen. However, despite the success of such films as the X-Men franchise, the three Spider-Man movies, the Batman franchise, and the many comic book films in production and development (Iron Man, The Dark Knight, The Incredible Hulk), not a lot of unknown or original comic properties have found success on the big screen. Let's hope Jackman and Nowhere Man can set the new trend.

Look for Hugh Jackman to appear in the upcoming X-Men Origins: Wolverine film in 2009.
