New Speed Racer Stills
March 27, 2007
2008 is looking like it's going to be a great year for fanboy. As stills for various fan-friendly films are come down the cinematic pike by the week, Warner Bros. has just unleashed a new round of still for the Wachowski's upcoming visually stunning nostalgia revamp Speed Racer.
On Thursday, both First Showing and EW hit the Speed Racer lotto, as Warner Bros. served up a few exclusive images to both outlets. The First Showing images will also be featured in an upcoming cover EW. Be on the lookout on the newsstands for the EW story, which also includes a breakdown of the effects approach from the film's visual effects supervisors effects supervisors Muhen Leo and Kim Libreri.
So, how does Speed Racer stack up from this side of The Deadbolt? Well, from what we've seen to date, the film looks like one hell of a visual orgasm. Although we're still wondering whether the original series has (or had) the legs (and wide appeal) to justify a feature film, we're sure Speed Racer might just push the visual envelope and set a new standard in the medium like the Wachowski's >b>Matrix trilogy did several years ago. After checking out the trailers, though, we're still a little hesitant about the film's Flintstone-ish quality. But that's just us and we are psyched to see what the Wachwoski's do this time around. After all, we grew up on Speed Racer, too. How can we not be psyched?
For the full look and lowdown on the newly released images, head to First Showing and EW for the latest look at Speed Racer.
