Coldplay Offers Free Download of New Single "Violent Hill"

In a statement released by popular British soft rockers Coldplay, on Tuesday, April 29 the band will be making the first single for their upcoming album "Viva La Vida" available for free download on their official website. "Violent Hill," the first single from the scheduled June release of "Viva La Vida," will be available at 7:15am EST on Tuesday and will be downloadable for one week until the single is turned over to digital distributors for purchase on May 6.

As well, details of a series of upcoming free Coldplay live gigs in June will also be available on the band’s website, which are slated to be taking place in London at the Brixton Academy on June 16 and New York City at Madison Square Garden on June 23. Coldplay’s "Viva La Vida" is scheduled for release at the start of the summer on June 12, 2008.

"Viva La Vida" is the first Coldplay album since the band’s "X&Y," which went on to become the best selling album of 2005.
