Britney Spears Returning to How I Met Your Mother

After a successful appearance on the CBS show How I Met Your Mother, Britney Spears is capitalizing on her momentum and will be appearing on the comedy for a second time. On Monday, CBS officially announced that Britney will be returning to guest star on How I met Your Mother on May 12. Just shy of two week before air date, production on the episode began today (April 28) with Spears prepping for her role.

In a statement to the press, show creator and executive producer Craig Thomas seems prepared for all of the hype after the media hype surrounding Britney’s first guest role, "We're all so thrilled to have Britney joining us once again. And just to head it off at the pass this time around: Yes, Mom, Britney's very nice and no, I can't get her autograph for you."

According to the official CBS press release, the storyline picks up "When Barney and Abby realize that they have one thing in common — their mutual hatred of Ted — the 'couple' decides to go to the bar to flaunt their new relationship in Ted's face. Desperate to get a rise out of his former pal, Barney pops a surprising question to Abby."

In our recent interview with Neil Patrick Harris for his recent role in the latest Harold & Kumar movie, the How I met Your Mother actor recently shared his thoughts on Britney Spears' first stint on the show, "I was amazed. I was very amazed by it all. From being on set and hearing rumors that she had called and was interested in being on our show, I was amazed through her showing up, through all of the press and watching people try and sneak on the set, and through the ten million people that ended up tuning in. It was all a very interesting couple of weeks."

Look for Britney's second appearance Monday, May 12 (8:30-9:00 PM, ET) on CBS.
