Marvel Announces Release Dates for Iron Man 2, The Avengers Movies
May 5, 2008
It comes as no surprise that the folks at Marvel are amping up the super hero hype after the gargantuan $100 million weekend box-office bonanza of Iron Man. Iron Man did so well that Marvel felt comfortable announcing the date for the upcoming sequel, which was revealed on Monday to be set for April 30, 2010. Along with the announcement of a second Iron Man, Marvel also revealed that director Matthew Vaughn’s Thor has been slated for a June 4, 2010 release while the double-barreled Avengers projects will both roll out in 2011, with the tentatively titled Nick Cassevettes film The First Avenger: Captain America set to hit theaters on May 6, 2011 before fans will see The Avengers sometime in July 2011. As of this minute, no director has been tapped for the second Avengers film.
Although this is all great news for comic book geeks, there will come a time when the super hero bubble bursts. Take a gander at our most recent feature, which explores "10 Factors that Could Kill Super Heroes in Hollywood".
