NBC Expands With 13 New Shows

Last year's new slate of programming didn't quite work with Chuck, Life, and Lipstick Jungle barely making it to another year and The Bionic Woman and Journeyman falling on their face, but the Peacock network unveiled a very ambitious slate of seven new dramas, two new comedies, and four new reality shows this week. The new shows are Crusoe, about the legendary character, Kath and Kim with Molly Shannon and Selma Blair, Kings with Deadwood's Ian McShane, Knight Rider, The Listener, Merlin, My Own Worst Enemy with Christian Slater, a spin-off of The Office, and The Philanthropist from the legendary Tom Fontana.

Shows that didn't make it to another year on NBC include 1 vs. 100, The Bionic Woman, Clash of the Choirs, Journeyman, Las Vegas, My Dad is Better Than Your Dad, The Singing Bee, and Scrubs, which was picked up by ABC. Renewed shows include 30 Rock, American Gladiators, America's Got Talent, The Biggest Loser, Dateline NBC, Deal or No Deal, E.R., Friday Night Lights, Heroes, Last Comic Standing, Law and Order, Law and Order: SVU, Life, Lipstick Jungle, Medium, Most Outrageous Moments, My Name is Earl, The Office, and Sunday Night Football.

For the Fall, Monday nights will include Chuck, Heroes, and My Own Worst Enemy. Tuesdays features The Biggest Loser, Kath and Kim, and Law and Order: Special Victims Unit. Wednesday nights include Knight Rider, Deal or No Deal, and Lipstick Jungle. Doesn't that seem that a weird line-up? Action, game show, and "chick show". Hmmm. They might want to tinker with that one. Thursdays, the best night for NBC, includes My Name is Earl, 30 Rock, The Office, the spin-off of The Office, and E.R., which was once rumored to not be coming back for another season. Fridays on NBC features Crusoe, Deal or No Deal, and Life with Friday Night Lights coming back in the Spring. Saturdays is all reality and repeats and Sundays features Football Night in America with Merlin, Medium, and Kings taking the night when the NFL season ends.
