Fox Launches Two New Shows This Fall
May 16, 2008

The final network to announce their fall schedule this upfront season was Fox, who revealed yesterday that they have two new series planned for the fall and five for midseason. In the end, a network that has been well-known for shaking things up in recent years isn't going to change much this Fall. A few shows shuffle around but, largely due to the strike, most of the changes won't take place until mid-season. Shows from the 2007-2008 season that are never coming back fall or mid-season include Back to You, The Return of Jezebel James, Unhitched, Canterbury's Law, K-Ville, New Amsterdam, and Next Greatest American Band.

The two new shows this fall are Fringe from producer J.J. Abrams, which scored the prime post-House spot on Tuesday nights and Do Not Disturb, a comedy that will air on Wednesday nights. Do Not Disturb stars Jerry O'Connell in a sitcom set at a New York City hotel and Fringe stars Joshua Jackson in an ensemble cast. Midseason shows include Dollhouse from Joss Whedon and the comedies Sit Down and Shut Up with the voices of Jason Bateman, Will Arnett, and Henry Winkler, and The Cleveland Show, the Seth MacFarlane produced spin-off from Family Guy.

The Fall Fox line-up starts with Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles on Monday nights at 8pm followed by Prison Break in its new time. Tuesdays features House and Fringe with Bones, Til Death, and Do Not Disturb airing on Wednesday nights. Thursdays now feature the moved The Moment of Truth and Kitchen Nightmares with more reality - Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader? and Don't Forget the Lyrics - taking over Friday. The trend continues with Cops and America's Most Wanted on Saturdays and animation takes the night on Sundays with The Simpsons, King of the Hill, Family Guy, and American Dad!

In January of 2009, Dollhouse and 24 take over on Monday nights and American Idol takes the House spot on Tuesday nights (Fringe gets a House lead-in for the fall and American Idol for the spring...incredible). House moves to anchor Wednesday with American Idol following in a half-hour results format (as opposed to this year's hour) and a new comedy to follow after it that is TBD. Thursdays will now feature Hell's Kitchen and Secret Millionaire with Bones, Til Death, and Do Not Disturb all moving to Fridays. Saturdays stay the same but Sit Down and Shut Up takes over for King of the Hill on Sunday nights with The Cleveland Show stepping in for American Dad!
