Matthew Perry Heading to Showtime with Peter Tolan

After becoming one of the most recognizable faces on television in the role of Chandler Bing on Friends, actor Matthew Perry is returning to TV with Rescue Me co-creator and executive producer, Peter Tolan, for a dark comedy Showtime pilot called The End of Steve. As Hollywood Reporter reveals, Perry will co-write and exec produce with Tolan and star as "Steve", a self-absorbed talk show host on an unwanted patch to salvation.

Marking the first time Showtime has worked with both Perry and Tolan, HR reports that a sizable penalty has been built into the relationship, which ensures Perry and Tolan will be working their butts off to get the half-hour comedy finished.

The report also goes on to reveal that the higher Showtime powers that be have been seeking a relationship with Peter Tolan for years and are elated to be working both Tolan and Perry.
