Super Bowl Snacks with Former Biggest Loser Couples Linemen Daniel and David
By Troy Rogers
Now that The Biggest
Loser Couples is in full swing for a new season,
the competition is heating up again as the contestants
prepared for Super Bowl week and a visit from
quarterback Kurt Warner of the Arizona Cardinals.
Although Joelle has been stirring the pot within
Bob Harper's team, this week saw an interesting
but inevitable turn of events when friends and
school mates Daniel and David found themselves
on the outside looking in after this week's weigh-in.
For Dan and Dave, the numbers weren't on their
side in more ways than one.
The morning after Dan and Dave were eliminated from The Biggest Loser Couples, we caught up with the now healthier duo to find out what they have in store for a future with more fitness, what it was like for them to step out of their comfort zones, and what trype of snacks they'll be eating for the Super Bowl.
THE DEADBOLT: Dan do you still believe that it isn’t possible to be anything but fat?
DANIEL: I do not now. That’s one of the best parts is realizing that it’s possible. It’s hard to see the physical difference sometimes, but I feel the physical difference, if that makes sense.
THE DEADBOLT: When did that switch for you? When was the turning point?
DANIEL: That day on the treadmill, believe it or not. On the fourth week, that was when I switched over.
THE DEADBOLT: How hard is for you to step out of your comfort zone?
DAVID: It’s
a struggle for anybody. For me that was my problem
that first week and unfortunately I didn’t have
time there to be able to do it.
THE DEADBOLT: What do you see as your biggest challenge after leaving the ranch? Is it the exercise side or the food side?
DANIEL: The exercise is pretty easy. The food part I think is the hard work for me, just because I’ve been able to make a lot of the good life changing decisions with food to the point where I can go into maintenance mode or even lose the weight in a small way. But to continue to drop big numbers and continue to try to keep up with all of my boys back on the ranch... The hard part for me will be making eating a science, you know getting down to eating five meals a day, trying to eat a certain number of calories at each meal and really timing it out. That’s the hard part for me, to do that in real life.
THE DEADBOLT: What was Kurt Warner like?
DANIEL: Oh
man, Kurt Warner was awesome, he was so cool.
He’s been a childhood hero of mine since I saw
him with the Rams . I was in middle school when
I saw him, basically because he’s got the same
faith as I do and seeing him really representing
and doing his best out there on the field and
being a good example to everybody. I really
look up to him, it was really great to meet
him.
THE DEADBOLT: Since you guys were both linemen, which team are you rooting for in the Super Bowl and what type of snacks will you be enjoying while you’re watching the game?
DANIEL: Oh, good question. David you wanna take this one?
DAVID: Yeah, you can do the snack one. I think both of us are definitely rooting for the Cardinals, because of Kurt Warner. He’s got such a strong faith and it’s the same faith we have and he’s willing to show it on national television. So we’re definitely going to support him
DANIEL: Snacks
for me? Two things: One, carrots, and hummus.
I know it sounds weird but they’re awesome together
and they really replace chips and dip...
DAVID: It’s not for everybody.
THE DEADBOLT: What about those chicken things to replace the wings?
DANIEL: That too, that’s what I was going to say for the second one. Those are really really good.
DAVID: Yeah we need to do that.
