Jillian Michaels, best known as the toughest trainer on the hit reality show The Biggest Loser, doesn’t allow for a slacker mentality in the newly released 40 minute plus cardio DVD workout, Banish Fat, Boost Metabolism. As any fan of The Biggest Loser would expect, Michaels applies her no-nonsense approach to health and conditioning in Banish Fat, but Jillian never sugarcoats what it takes to stay in shape. As Michaels explains on the disc, "results don’t come for free." And that, my fitness friends, is the cold hard truth about what it takes.
If you want to lose weight or simply improve your metabolism, you’ve got to work at it. There are no shortcuts here on Banish Fat, Boost Metabolism. Michaels incorporates seven circuits designed to raise your heart rate and kick-start your metabolism. As you’ll also discover, there are a couple of sub-circuits within the seven that bring out Jillian’s love for kickboxing. And the truth be told, they’re a great blast to get you moving.

I never review a fitness DVD without trying it out in full from start to finish. With Banish Fat, Boost Metabolism, Jillian definitely puts you through the ringer. If I had to find a flaw in this kick butt, results oriented workout, it would be that it contains many of the exercises that fitness fanatics love to hate. Burpees? Of course, we love them but hate them at the same time. But they also speak to Jillian’s statements on getting results. The fun of the many kickboxing moves only make up a portion of what’s included in the DVD. The rest are (admittedly, results guaranteed) tried, true, and grueling routines that will make a difference both in the short and long terms.
Everything in life is at your fingertips
As TV viewers nationwide have come to learn after watching The Biggest Loser, Jillian Michaels is a complete, driven, and results oriented trainer who truly knows her stuff. Although some people may find Jillian too straight shooting at times, Michaels also knows that people need to be pushed beyond their comfort zones in order to shake bad habits. For some people in need of help on their road to health and fitness, a trainer like Jillian is what they need (even if they don't want to accept the cold hard truth). During the workout on Banish Fat, Boost Metabolism, Jillian is ever the professional in her descriptions of muscles, muscle groups and exactly how you should perform the exercises without causing injury. On her new DVD, Jillian Michaels makes a personal promise that if you follow her program, you will succeed. And, unlike many other health and fitness gurus that have led me astray at times, I believe her. Ending with "See you tomorrow" is brilliant and oh, so true.
