A Two Minute Terminator Chronicle with Summer Glau and Josh Friedman

Fans of The Terminator franchise have made The Sarah Connor Chronicles must-see TV on their weekly sci-fi radar. Although the early days of the hit Fox series saw Lena Heady, Thomas Dekker and Summer Glau fighting to survive the writers' strike, once the series came back to the airwaves with Brian Austin Green and rocker Shirley Manson in the fold, Sarah Connor Chronicles creator Josh Friedman could forget the past and look to the future.
Now that 2009 is in full swing, The Sarah Connor Chronicles returns from an extended holiday break to pick up from time altering events, Sarah's three-dot discovery and Cameron's clash with Riley in "Earthlings Welcome Here" with the new episode "The Good Wound," which airs Friday, February 13 on Fox.
With the 2008 past of Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles now affecting the show's return in the 2009 future, we stopped time just long enough to join a conference call with creator Josh Friedman and actress-turned-cyborg Summer Glau (Cameron) and ask a couple of brief questions with the limited time we had before the call was "terminated."
THE DEADBOLT: For "The Good Wound," the promo mentioned Sarah, Weaver, and John Henry. But what is Cameron getting up to?
SUMMER GLAU: Cameron is - I don’t know how to put this - she’s doing a few unexpected things. Josh, I don’t know how to put this.
JOSH FRIEDMAN: [laughs] We aren’t going to tell you. How’s that Summer? Sorry.
THE DEADBOLT: Since Cameron survived the explosion and her brain got scrambled, how has that opened up the character for you in terms of flashbacks and emotions?
GLAU: Josh and I were talking about it one day on set. We were just talking about how, because Cameron is absorbing human behavior and trying to understand human emotion, I think that the fans are sort of getting drawn into feeling like they can relate to her more, and I think there are moments where you think like Cameron is a family pet. She’s more docile and we’re trusting her.
But then she has to do something to shock everyone into remembering she’s a dangerous robot, and that’s something that I try to remind myself of all of the time in scenes. I want people to be drawn in but then be shocked into remembering, ‘Oh my gosh, she’s really dangerous.’ Anything could happen at any moment with her.
THE DEADBOLT: What advantages or disadvantages would Cameron have in a hand-to-hand brawl with Catherine?
FRIEDMAN: [laughs] Very few advantages. Well, I mean I’d certainly rather be Weaver than Cameron in a straight up brawl. But, you know, maybe she’s quicker? But that’s a rough one. That’s a rough fight. It was a rough fight in T2 and here are very few advantages in that fight.
GLAU: I don’t know if I want to know what happens. I’ve been avoiding her.
