Twilight Weekly Wrap: New Moon Title Clarity, Eclipse, Casting, and Contest by Larson Hill
With less than a month to go before the Twilight sequel New Moon heads into production, the past week of news surrounding the Twilight saga has generated even more buzz for the Stephenie Meyer based franchise and the third, upcoming Twilight film, Eclipse. While Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart, and the cast of Twilight, made their way overseas for the Twilight premiere in Japan, a flurry of New Moon related news hit the web. The latest buzz fueled speculation about who may be in line to direct Eclipse now that word has come down the Twilight pike that New Moon director Chris Weitz won't be returning to helm the third big screen adaptation. Also, despite reports that New Moon received a "new" title amid recently released logo artwork that reads Twilight Saga New Moon, the widely reported title change isn't quite what it appears to be.
New Moon Casting Complete?
Most recently there have been reports floating around that casting director Joseph Middleton apparently confirmed that the casting process for New Moon is complete despite no official word from Summit Entertainment. Since the end of February, some outlets have been speculating that the news indicates Dakota Fanning and actress Vanessa Hudgens are now cut out of the mix while others suggest nothing is definite. What's our take? It looks like any minute, hour or day now we'll be seeing the official cast list from Summit Entertainment that will give us the answers.

Eclipse Director's Chair?
Earlier this week EW reported that rumors were circulating that actress Drew Barrymore was in the running to direct the third Twilight adaptation, Eclipse, since it was confirmed that New Moon director Chris Weitz would not be returning to helm Eclipse. In the same "casting complete" report, however, appearing on LivePR.com, word has it that director Paul Weitz, brother of Chris Weitz, would be stepping in to direct Eclipse and that the Drew Barrymore rumors were false. Still, amid all of the rumors, there's been no official word from Summit Entertainment on who will be directing Eclipse.

Bronson Pelletier
Last week saw even more New Moon buzz as word rocketed down the Twilight pike that Canadian actor Bronson Pelletier had been confirmed a role in New Moon after Pelletier's management company, Carrier Talent Management, congratulated Bronson on their website with "Congratulations to Bronson who scores a lead role in the highly anticipated 'Twilight' feature film sequel 'New Moon'."

New Moon is simply ... New Moon
Last week Summit Entertainment released the official logo artwork for the upcoming Twilight sequel New Moon, with the words The Twilight Saga New Moon. However, when the New Moon logo was announced, outlets began to report that the official title for New Moon had been upgraded to The Twilight Saga New Moon, with some outlets even reporting that the title was The Twilight Saga's New Moon. One look at the logo and it was assumed that the New Moon title had been changed.
The funny thing was, however, amid the flurry of Twilight activity is that no one stopped to think that the Stephenie Meyer book is actually titled New Moon - nothing more, nothing less. So why would the official title be changed to The Twilight Saga New Moon? When you stop and think about it for a second, it doesn't really make sense. And when you visit the Summit Entertainment website, both movies are still titled and being referred to as the same title as the books, as reflected in the Summit press release about the Eclipse release date - "Summit Entertainment announced today that ECLIPSE, the third film in the TWILIGHT saga, will be released theatrically in North America on Wednesday, June 30, 2010. Melissa Rosenberg, who wrote the scripts for both TWILIGHT and NEW MOON, is currently writing the script for ECLIPSE and continues to consult with TWILIGHT book series author Stephenie Meyer."
Anyone see the words "Twilight Saga" or "Twilight's Saga" in Summit's wording?
When you look closer at the New Moon logo, nowhere in the artwork is the possessive word "Saga's". As reported by E! last week, plus an e-mail that we received from an anonymous source after the E! clarification story broke, New Moon is simply "New Moon." The tidbit we received supported the E! story, which stated, "Just to give you guys a heads up on the New Moon title that everyone's reporting from the logo story, the 'Twilight Saga' addition is just letting people know that it's connected to the Twilight series for those who may not know. It's still New Moon like the book." Whatever the official case is, we'll still be referring to New Moon as New Moon. Also worth noting is that the contest wording on the website refers to New Moon as simply New Moon, too.
Twilight Scorecard: Disqualified since it appears to be nothing more than a knee-jerk assumption on everyone's part.

Subject: suggestion for cast of new moon
I think since this movie is already a great hit with some virtually unkown actors- New Moon would be awesome if it added some serious experienced talent for the Volturi Here are my suggestions:
Mads Mikkelson (Le Chief) from Casino Royale
James Franco (any role)
Zachary Quinto (any role)
Josh Hartnett (any role)
Jonathan Rhys-Meyers (any role)
Hayden Christensen (any role)

As much as I can't wait to see these books made into movies, I think they are getting to far ahead of themselves. I'd really like them to put more thought into these movies instead of just making sure to have them out for a certain date. I'm soooooo worried these movies are gonna bomb! Twilight certainly wasn't great, it was mediocre. I want to see an awesome remake of the books damnit!!

i am super happy that we wont have to wait
for another year before we can see eclipse.

titled the same as the books are.
but we can't change everything. Does
anybody know when the twilight DVD
is going to be released?
i am really happy about the new moon movie but i think if they change the title my happiness about it will decrease a bit!! I fell in love with jasper and emmet!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I think that edward was a bit odd though?

All, Look at the back of the book paper protector. It says the Twilight Saga and lists the books, so don't get worked up about it.
